Day 25

Time is flying wayyyyy tooo fasstttt. I'm leaving for the Bahamas a week from tomorrow. YIKES. So much to do, so little time to do it in. Not to mention that deer hunting opener is this weekend, and I've got work to do, and packing, and food, and and and.......

So I was totally a slacker this weekend, instead of working on assignments I went to a party yesterday and hung out with some family friends today... :P Which means that I don't really have anything to blog about. I couldn't ever decide if I didn't do anything if I should "add insult to injury" and not blog????

Tonight I wrote my to do list for tomorrow and I'm going to try to stay up late and get some other stuff done

Tomorrow I'd like to:

• Finish my what my Top 20 Offerings mean to my clients
• Blog on my public blog
• Gather my thoughts on The Tipping Point

And since I like reading others assignments I figured that I'd post my dream business profile. I had fun writing it, and I had fun reading others so.... here goes!

My Dreams ~

I love my dream business, because in it all my clients are absolutely fun, and willing to do anything to get gorgeous pictures.

I’d be doing about 20 weddings a year, and filling in with seniors and events, and occasionally fun families. My clients would be from all over the USA.  I would have plenty of time to spend on each shoot, making each session fun and all the images fabulous. Each session would be different, just like each of my clients. We would go fabulous places and shoot in gorgeous settings.  Even the times that we aren’t blessed with fabulous locals, my creative juices would always be “turned on” and I would work wonders with the mundane.

After each shoot, I would spend time post processing my images, making each the way I saw them before my camera, and each lovely. My clients would order plenty of images, and the prints would be delivered in person, making me able to see everyone’s reactions. After the prints are delivered my clients would pick out their favorites, and I would craft a fabulous album to document their day, event, graduation, etc, along with a slideshow.

In my free time I would pass on the things that I’ve learned and my passion for my art to others by teaching photography workshops. I would also volunteer my photography along with my writing to a special ministry for their promotional material.

In my dreams all the marketing I need comes from word of mouth, my happy clients passing on my name. No taxes need to be paid, no forms filled out, no contracts need signing. I don’t need to spend time marketing and promoting myself. All that’s needed is my camera, my subjects, my computer, Lightroom and my creativity.

It’s almost hard to end here, because if we are really talking dreams, another part of my dreams sees me as photographer (or photographer/writer) for Time, or Life, National Geographic, or Answers In Genesis, and yet another part of my dreams sees me writing photography books on intriguing people, in different places, and even another part…. actually I think that’s about it. It never hurts to dream, right?

Day 23

Today was a lay around day... and now I hate myself ;) I think I need to watch that motivational no excuses video that Rebekah posted! lol

Anyway,

• I started working on my eight other blogging themes to make my list 20
• reviewed the things I highlighted in the first two chapters of the Tipping Point
• and started what each of the 20 things I have to offer means to my clients

Tomorrow is a big day, but I want to:

• get a few more of my 20 offerings analyzed
• and come up with another blogging theme.

Have a RAD weekend everyone! I hope it's as great as mine :)

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Day 22

It wasn't a very productive day but I finished chapter two of the Tipping Point and blogged. I also scribbled out some ideas for my logo. I was going to have someone design one for me, but lately I've gotten back into decorative writing like I used to do for fun... and I'm thinking maybe I want to write my own. If you guys wanna give me some feedback I'd LOVE it. It's here on my facebook wall... PLEASE criticize it. :-) I can handle it...

Other than that.... not much.

Oh wait! I did get a couple pictures for my inspiration board at the "Restore Store". Oh my word. I've figured out how much I *love* old things. So there was this old radio cabinet... you know the kind with the built in radio and the speakers in the bottom of it..... hahah. You get the point =))

So tomorrow I am going to:

Start my blog project
Start the words that describe me
Start putting together points from the book

Night everyone! getting some sleep and hopefully getting rid of this headache :P lol

Day 21 and the start of week FOUR

Tonight I had my skype call with Christina, and I feel so much more excited and motivated about this week. I think I'm finally becoming ok, with not always doing everything. Sometimes some things don't get done, and you know... that's OK. It's not necessarily irresponsible, it's just that you don't have unlimited time, or energy, or creativity or even brain power :-)

Anyway,  I had a good talk with her, and I'm getting pumped to keep going on this journey and to "wait and see". Before my call I was reading and came across this verse [Lamentations 3:25-27] "The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord."

Sometimes, in my pursuit of what the Lord showed me I forget my pursuit of the Lord, and that's the MAIN point of life. MAIN, as in capital letters, as in the most important. Yes, it's very important to *do* what the Lord is telling you, but you'd better not lose sight of the One who told you it.

Anyway.......

Today I accomplished:

• Reading more of The Tipping Point
• Added to my dream profile
• and my Skype call
• and got a few items for my inspiration board

Tomorrow I would like to:

• Start on the second part of my blog project {I'm pumped about that one}
• Blog
• Read the Tipping Point
• Find an 80s costume for a party this week :-)

I hope everyone is enjoying *their* own journey, and it's been fun to follow ya'll so far! It's good to know I'm not the only one!

Now... I think. I am going. to get some sleep. yes. [sigh]

Day Eleven!

Ooofta full day! But I didn't complete all my goals... :(

Day Ten

I got two of my goals done today:

• and started my list of twenty things I have to offer

Tomorrow is my day off, but Mondays goals will be:

• Blog post
• Finish my list
• review another strength

Friday, October 15, 2010

Day Nine

I didn't blog yesterday because I didn't get anything done. I figured it was pointless to write a post telling all the things I *didn't* do.....

Anyway today:

• I reviewed one of my strengths - Input
• Went through the wedding pictures and pulled out a couple to re-edit
• started on my master systems list
• I've got one picture for my inspiration board... but that's it

I've got a busy weekend with an 9 hour work day tomorrow, plus lots of work for the newspaper, so my goals are going to be small:

• Work on my 20 things I have to offer
• Get a least one more item to add to my inspiration board
• hopefully get a blog post done on my photo blog
• take some time to think

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Day Seven

One week! Today was one of those days that didn't feel too productive....

But what I did get done was this:

• I finished my 20 reasons list... all except one :(
• Finished my five values
• Finished my boundaries
• Took the Strength Finders test... pretty interesting.
• Had my call with Christina [excited about some of the assignments for this week]
• And I think that's about it

Tomorrow I would like:
• Review one of my strengths
• Actually work on finishing up those wedding pictures
• Start on my master systems list
• Among lots of other things.... [like start my inspiration board!!!! :-)) ]

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Day Six

Today I:

• Finished the general editing for the wedding!!! YAY! So happy about that. Now I just need to do the 'once more' look over, burn the DVD, package it up, write a thank you note, print a release and *send* it off. So super excited to show them!
• Set up my two business boundaries and two relationship/interaction boundaries
• *Almost* finished my list of 20 reasons my photography is valuable
• Worked on five values that I have to offer
• Contemplated my daily question
• Worked on my book project

Annnnd for tomorrow:

• Figure out my last reason my photography is valuable
• Ponder how I can separate myself from my photography
• Write about my daily question
• Skype call with Christina
• Finish up wedding pictures

And then post all my new found knowledge... such as why my photography is valuable ;)

Monday, October 11, 2010

Day Five

I decided that Sundays were going to be my day off.... so I didn't blog. :-) Which means that this will be a combination post.

Yesterday:
• I spent five hours editing pictures
• I spent some good time with God
• caught up on some emails
• wrote a paragraph on my daily question
• took sometime to think
• and I think that was about it

Today I:

• came up with four more reasons that my work is valuable, only three more left to go
• spent three hours on editing
• wrote a blog post
• picked out some of my most recent work to finish updating my website
• cleaned my room ;)
• talked to the football coach and looked up football stats
• I.d.'ed Volleyball pictures and sent them over to the newspaper
• cut my little sisters and my moms hair
• worked on hollowing out my book
• and now I'm going to work on the football story......

Tomorrows goals:

Seeing as it's paper deadline day they are going to be small [wait, I said that in my last post, whoops]

• Work on five values I have to offer
• Finish my 20 reasons I'm valuable
• I'd also like to ponder my daily question some more

Alright, football story here I come. Gonna dominate you!

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Day Four

Long but fun day today....

• I got three and a half hours of editing done. I'm getting through those pictures!! And the more I edit, the more excited I become. Seriously, that couple is amazing!

Back to subject:

• I also came up with seven reasons my photography is valuable. I'm having a hard time with this one, so far I have 11..... hmmmm. Think Kelley, think!

• I got to hang out with a friend from camp and teach her some about her camera... we had fun figuring out her camera {it was a CANON!!! :P, walking around town and shooting, and then some review afterward...

Tomorrow since it's Sunday I'm going to have nice little goals like:

• Figure out how to tape my wrist, and find some tape to do it with. {yes, this is business related... it's from editing :S }
• Write a paragraph on my daily question
• And spend some time with God

Been a good week so far... except for the Twins losing two games. And they are losing right now...... Come on guys!

Friday, October 8, 2010

Day Three

Oh boy.

This is already harder than I thought. And this is the *first* week.

I see everyone else blogging about all their thoughts and I'm like "Bahhha, I can't even think, let alone write them out." So until I catch up it's still going to be in bullet form.

Today I:

• Didn't get my goals done
• I edited last nights volleyball pictures and have yet to upload them to Zenfolio
• I re-wrote my bio for my website, but it still needs work before I can post it
• The end.

Phew. ;)

Now for tomorrow:

• I want [not will ;) ] to work on the wedding pictures for at 2 hours [please do more, Kelley]
• I will set my other two boundaries
• I will come up with ten reasons why my photography is valuable

Other tasks for the day: email various people, update my facebook fan page, write a paragraph on my daily question, finish up my bio, drink more water than coffee and most of all think.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Thursday, October 7, 2010

Today I:

• Worked on Leah and David's pictures for 2 hours
• Blogged my tennis pictures
• Came up with *four* reasons my work is valuable (look, I even did one more!)
• Set two boundaries... two more to go!

I'm kind tempted to put down all the other things I got done, because it was a productive day... and I had lots of energy, until I crashed at about 3:00... stupid mono. :P {I also hate how this blog doesn't have any readers, because I feel like I'm talking to myself and it feels really redundant}

Tomorrow I am going to:

• Re-write my "About" page on my website
• Put in three hours of editing on the wedding pictures
• After editing volleyball pictures I am going to post them on my Zenfolio

Here's for another productive day..... oh, and GO TWINS!!! {Send the Yankees HOME!}

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

First Day

This is the first day of my blog..... so here goes.

Today:

• I spent 2.5 hours editing Leah and David's wedding pictures
• I talked to Christina for an hour, and I'm getting really excited about learning
• And I also figured out how to reset my flash to wireless... :-)

So tomorrow my goals are:

• I will establish my two boundaries (something that I *really* need, really need)
• I will spend at least two hours editing wedding pictures
• [I'd like to say that this last one is shoot the volleyball game, but I kinda think that's cheating, so...]
• I will come up with *three* reasons that my work is valuable

Blank Blogs Bother Me

I decided that this blog needs at least one post, and since we don't have anything to blog about yet, I decided it's going to be on me.

{even though I've already got a bio right over there -----> apparently it carries over from other blogs...}

Anyway....I could probably add some things that aren't on there

I'm the oldest of a dozen kids, and I live in cold Minnesota {it has already frosted here. >_<} I really love my job as a photographer, and I also really enjoy working at the local newspaper. I've done quite a few different things as far as jobs, ranging from a lifeguard and cabin cleaner to a chicken butcher to a sports reporter.

A few things I love: My little siblings, chocolate, pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks [and Starbucks in general] writing and reading, all kinds of music, trying new food {alll kinds of food}, raspberry pies, warm tomatoes from the garden, cliff jumping, running, swimming, hunting, cutting hair :-) and doing it, pages with no words, but words in my head to fill them. I like traveling, and flying and the ocean. I love watching baseball, listening to it, photographing it and talking it with my bros. Guys who open doors for ladies and writing with brackets {in case you hadn't figured that one out yet.. :-)}

Things I don't like: picky eaters, blank blogs, cats, mice in the house, snakes and billy goats. {oh and chickens... long story} I'm not a fan of texting {especially when you are with people} orrrrr, {geeze this list is a little shorter than the other one}. I'm very passionate against our messed up culture who thinks that girls should be guys, and guys should more feminine.

Anyway. This is getting long and pointless and I should probably be in bed..

So I'll say [if you made it this far] I'm excited to be doing this!
